Abstract

A 38-year old woman was admitted. to the hospital because of epigastric fullness and intermitent pain for 1 year before admission. The dull epigastric pain was exacervated following meal and did not radiate to other region. There was no family and past history of tuberculosis.
On physical examination, she appeared well except an egg-sized palpable mass on the epigastrium. The mass was slightly movable with smooth surface and firm consistency.
The routine laboratory findings were not remarkable. The upper gastrointestinal series showed smooth filling defact at the lower part of the antrum, but mucosal folds and peristaltic movements well preserved. The gastroscopic finding revealed a protruding smooth mass on the greater curvature of the antrum and mucosal folds and peristaltic waves also preserved.
The gastric tuberculosis was confirmed after subtotal gastrectomyy by histopathologic examination
Now, we report this primary gastric tuberculosis which calls a clinician¢¥s attention on the respect of rarity and the difficulty in diagnosis.
